Straighten Yourself Up!

“Crippled by a spirit of infirmity for 18 years ... bent over and could not STRAIGHTEN UP at all. Jesus put His hands on her, and immediately she STRAIGHTENED UP and praised God.

But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus healed on the Sabbath.” Luke 13:11-14

What if Jesus was distracted by His religious critics due to insecurity and the need of acceptance? This lady wouldn’t have been healed.

Don’t ever become offended by your critics. The way you respond and manage criticism, good or bad, will affect your effectiveness to help others.

Take your licking but keep on ticking!

Correction and re-direction may be needed, but don’t leave your post of effectiveness. It is never, ever productive to complain or talk about people. Always talk to people if you have a problem with them.

Imagine being doubled over, face-down, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually depleted. For 6,570 days, 157,680 hours she was handicapped, but still a faithful church goer, expecting a breakthrough.

Most Christians can’t make it to church on a good day, in good health. I’m just saying!

This woman had outrageous faith and perseverance when nothing was happening! I hear people all the time begging, negotiating, and telling God, “If you do this, I’ll serve you; if you fix this, I’ll go to church.”

Sorry to rain on your despair, but God has faithful people serving Him when nothing is going right and all Hell breaks loose.

Job said, “Though they slay me, I will hope in Him.”

Shadrach, Meshach, and Away-We-Go stated, “The God we serve can rescue us ... but if He doesn’t ... we still won’t serve your gods.”

“Jesus saw her.” This implies no one else did.

Are you feeling unrecognized, overlooked, or passed by?

Jesus knows your demise and desires to tell you something you don’t know or understand. For instance, “You are loosed from your infirmity.”

You don’t have to act the way you have been acting, you don’t need that habit. You don’t have to be all “bent” out of shape or traumatized about that event.

What impotent, incompetent, and powerless religion couldn’t do in 18 years, Jesus did in a moment!

I’ve got great news – Jesus is able and willing to STRAIGHTEN UP whatever is messed up in your life, NOW!
