The Counsel of the Lord

Proverbs 16:1-3

We normally move then ask for help but God wants us to ask His help and wait on His answer, then move!

We don't realize how much we need God's help and how much He wants to help us in life.

Even if He showed us what His perfect will is for our life we still would have a problem reaching it without his constant involvement in getting us there.

What we can do is prepare our hearts to seek God's counsel, to have His wisdom in our matters and to wait on His answer for direction in life affairs. This is important because what verse 2 says is in our own eyes our decisions are pure (right), meaning we don't foresee anything that would be destructive to our choice ahead.

We don't see divorce because that person was pure in my eyes. We don't see bankruptcy because it was pure in my eyes. We don't see anything wrong with allowing our children to dance with the devil because it's just fun (as the saying goes) that's pure in my eyes.

We act without seeing the importance of getting God involved in our life matters which most of the time leaves us in lopsided positions or setback in life for long periods of time, but when we allow the Lord to engage our matters He brings balance to them.

That's what the word ‘weighs’ means: to equalize, level, to balance. In other words The Lord makes sure that His engagement will bring fruit for your life and his kingdom.

I'm not saying you won't hit bumps in the road because The Bible doesn't teach an event free life, but it will abound to your good.

(3 John 2) Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul.

As you can see God wants us balancely blessed.

Many seek God's counsel after they are in a lopsided, unbalanced position which is still good, but the fruitful order should be to seek first the kingdom of God and his Righteousness. God doesn't waste anything if you ask Him to get involved with decisions that are right and moral, He will!

If you ask Him to get you out of what is wrong and immoral, He will!

That's why He died for us.

Ask, and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and it shall be opened.

In our hearts we plan our ways but it is The Lord that directs our steps.
