The Year of Worship

Written by Michael A. Otkins Sr. on .

As we begin a new year, let’s make it a year of Worship, a year of exalting Jesus Christ our Lord and God.

Think about it, worship is getting caught up in the things we know about God. Worship is wondering after God, wondering after God’s wealth, wondering after God’s wisdom, and wondering after God’s knowledge.

God is perfectly acquainted with every detail in the life of every being in heaven, earth, and hell. Nothing escapes His notice, nothing can be hidden from him, and he forgets nothing. God, when he reveals himself to you, causes you to step back in awe.

Another reason to make this year a year of worship is because worship is waiting before God.

The knowledge of God is unsearchable, the wisdom of God is untraceable, and the wealth of God is unfathomable. Since the depth of the riches of God is mind blowing, we must pause to worship. We must wait on God.

C. S. Lewis said that trying to explain what God is like, is similar to a shell fish trying to explain a human to another shell fish. We can know God, be we can never know him exhaustively.

The prophet declares in Isaiah 55:8, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, said the Lord.”

This should be our desire as God’s people, to give glory to the one who is so wonderful. One’s ambition, aspiration, and avidity for this New Year 2014, and the rest of your life are to worship God.

When you come to know the greatness of God, it changes everything about your life.

Then sings my soul, my savior God to thee, How great thou art, How great thou art!
