Vets’ Day: Politics and posture

After I graduated high school, I made a decision to commit four years of my life to service in the Army.

Signing my name on the infamous dotted line was probably one of my prouder moments in life. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into, but I was issued a rifle and some body armor and things were pretty exciting.

Judge Dupont bids district adieu

It seems all but yesterday that it was 1975 I was 23 years old and just graduating from law school, ready to embark a career in law and public service.

40 years later it is now time for me to travel a different path. It is with sadness and joy that I announce my retirement as district judge of the 18th Judicial District Court effective as of Oct. 31. During the last 40 years I have had the pleasure of serving as the attorney for the city of Plaquemine, the town of Fordoche and the Atchafalaya Basin Levee District.

lection season has begun and continues through next year with our national election.  We hear promises of what one will do, as if they have some new powers.  Many, but not all, speak as if they are the chosen one and others are uncaring and incapable of making a difference.  They promote themselves through unbalanced, unchristian and often untrue commercials.

It’s always interesting to note how people grow, or cease to grow, when confronted by change. I belong to a group of people seeking to enlighten and educate people to the fact that liberal agendas are based on specific socialist principles clearly evident and patently offensive to the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
