UPDATE- A July 2 court ruling will prohibit Port Allen Mayor Demetric “Deedy” Slaughter from receiving more than $400 a month in car allowance, from continuing to pay her attorneys’ fees with city money unless approved by the city council and from continuing to receive a higher-than-budgeted salary until the city council appropriates more funds or she obtains a court order.
The splash pads are officially open, according to Parish President Riley “Pee Wee” Berthelot.

According to a Louisiana Legislative Auditor (LLA) report published June 19, Port Allen Mayor Demetric “Deedy” Slaughter may be in violation of the law for a $6,000 car allowance she is currently receiving and the $2,432 of city funds she was reimbursed in January to attend the Presidential inauguration.
