Port Allen’s old city hall, police station and fire station at 710 N. Jefferson Ave. have been demolished, per the recommendation of an architect hired to evaluate the structures.
Environmental Resources Management, the company current working on the overhaul of the city of Port Allen’s zoning ordinance, is asking the city council to consider modifying requirements for “lots of record.”
Lots of record are lots which existed prior to the zoning ordinance and do not conform to the ordinance’s lot size requirements. Lots of record are typically 25-feet wide, whereas the city’s zoning ordinance requires lot widths of 60 to 80 feet, according to Jenifer Huff and Christopher Grant of ERM.
The Addis Town Council introduced an ordinance Wednesday, during their December regular meeting, that, if passed, will allow American Municipal Services to begin calling people with Addis bench warrants in order to collect payments.
