West Baton Rouge Schools Superintendent David Corona gave his state of the parish schools address during the West Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce’s last regular monthly meeting of the year at the Addis Community Center on November 28.
On Saturday, December 8, voters in Port Allen will decide which direction they want the city to move.
The city’s mayoral run-off election between incumbent Roger Bergeron, who served as the city’s mayor for the past year, and challenger Demetric “Deedy” Slaughter, who was the top vote-getter in the November 6 election with 46.45% of the vote, will allow voters to make their final decision on who will be the city’s leader for the next four years.

Father David Allen, priest at Holy Family Catholic Church in Port Allen, said that once the words left his mouth several months ago on a Sunday morning from the pulpit, he realized what he had done – and that he couldn’t take back what he’d said.
The Port Allen Police Department, with the assistance of the United States Marshals, arrested Port Allen fugitive Darryl J. Jackson, 20, on November 21.
Marshals apprehended Jackson near the 1300 block of Rosedale Road after he attempted to escape through the back of a residence and run.
Erwinville residents Cory Salemi, 26, and Emily Allain, 25, traveled to a campground in Mt. Herman to relax and watch a meteor shower with a group of friends.
Their 7-year-old son, Travis Salemi, went to visit his great aunt, who had planned a trip to the Angola Rodeo.
