Reader praises levee-top recreational trail
I would like to take this opportunity to commend and thank everyone involved in making our new levee-top recreational trail from Addis Lane to Beaulieu Lane a reality. It is a valuable addition and asset to our recreational facilities in West Baton Rouge.
The levee trail, which I have now used many times to run, bike and walk on, is absolutely great. It provides nearly 5 miles of paved and safe pathway with scenic views of the Mississippi River. The levee trail provides an avenue for fitness, healthy lifestyles and social interaction.
I know it took great cooperation between the West Baton Rouge Parish Council, the Addis and Brusly Town Councils, the Atchafalaya Levee Board, as well as great leadership from Parish President Pee Wee Berthelot and Mayors Scot Rhodes of Brusly and David Toups of Addis. This type of cooperation between the various governing entities has always made West Baton Rouge the envy of surrounding parishes.
Also, thank you to the many landowners along the trail who allowed us to use their land for a noble purpose: the health, well-being and enjoyment of their fellow citizens.
This project is just one more shining example of the many good things going on in West Baton Rouge. It is projects like this that help make West Baton Rouge a great place to live and raise our families. It is why people continually want to move here and why we continue to grow.
A huge thank you to all those who helped make it happen!
