The Brusly Panthers baseball team took home two wins last weekend including a no-hitter thrown by senior Tyler Theriot and a shut out from Cameron Daigle on Saturday.
In the 10-0 win over Loranger High School on Friday, March 2, Theriot, a Nicholls State signee, didn’t allow a single hit. In six innings on the mound, Theriot struck out 10 batters and only walked one.
The game was on Theriot’s side from the beginning, when he hit a two-run home run on a 2-2 count, bringing Daigle home with him. Theriot hit 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and a run.
Daigle (3-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 runs) doubled in the second sending home Luke Devillier, who had reached base on an error before stealing second.
Two doubles were responsible for another run in the third inning. Zach Sibile hit a double driving home Garrett Roberts (2-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 run), who had also reached base on a double.
The Panthers tallied four runs in the sixth inning. Harrison Boudreaux, Greyson Poh, and Roberts each drove in runs.
On Saturday, Daigle took the mound, and although he gave up four hits, his defense backed him up to give him a shutout in a 2-0 win over East Ascension High School.
It was a pitching duel the entire game with both pitchers striking out seven.
The only two runs of the game came when Sibile singled, driving home Theriot and Boudreaux who had both reached base on singles.
The Panthers had nine hits in the game, including multiple hits from Daigle and Sibile.
Brusly will travel to Lafayette High School on Thursday, March 8, 2018, for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
