A single-vehicle crash took the life of one pedestrian and seriously injured another on US 190 west of LA 415 around 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, according to Louisiana State Police.
The crash took the life of 65 year old Lani Jachetta of Pachuta, MS and injured 58 year old Michael Storey of Nashville, TN.
The initial investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop A revealed the crash occurred as Jachetta and Storey walked across US 190. For reasons still under investigation, Jachetta and Storey walked into the path of an eastbound 2014 Buick Verano driven by 41 year old Champail Robinson of Livonia. Jachetta and Storey were struck by Robinson’s vehicle in the right lane of US 190 eastbound.
Jachetta sustained fatal injuries a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the West Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office. Storey sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Robinson was properly restrained and was not injured.
