Jarius Wright of Port Allen and Port Allen Middle School, recently competed in the “Coach Mac” Youth All American Game in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Dec. 28, 2017.
Wright, a member of “Team Wolf,” a sixth and seventh grade team, started as safety on defense and wingback on offense. Team Wolf won 20-19.
Coach Mac’s Football 101 hosts youth football camps and national events held every winter, spring, and summer in Broward County, Florida. This was the inaugural “Coach Mac” Youth All American Game for players in grades 3-8. Players are nominated to play in the game and are coached by a group of notable coaches from across the country and have the opportunity to play against or along side athletes not only from across the country but from around the world.
Wright has been a member of the Westside Bulldog Youth Football organization for five years. He has been a key contributor on each team he has played on coach and cofounder of the Westside Bulldogs organization, Pierre Washington said.
“Jarius is a wonderful kid who works really hard and has done well on the football field in the five years he has played with the Bulldog organization,” Washington said. “He’s very active with a lot of community activities with Port Allen Middle school, so as much as I am proud of his football accomplishments, I’m more proud of what he’s doing at school.”
