State Rep. Edmond Jordan (D – Brusly) announced that he has endorsed Rep. Ed Price (D – Gonzales) in the special election for Senate District 2.
“I have been working side by side with Ed Price in the Legislature and know firsthand that he will be a tireless advocate for working families in the state Senate,” Jordan said. “He has the experience we need to improve education, foster economic development and invest in our infrastructure.”
Jordan represents District 29 in the Louisiana House of Representatives and was a candidate in the April 29 primary election for Senate District 2. Jordan ran first among 13 candidates in West Baton Rouge Parish with 38 percent of the vote.
“I’m honored to receive Rep. Edmond Jordan’s endorsement for the state Senate,” Price said. “The voters are responding positively to our message of economic opportunity, raising the minimum wage and supporting equal pay for women. The only way to move our state forward is to ensure that every member of our community has a quality education and a good paying job.”
Price, a graduate of Grambling State University, was re-elected in 2015 for his second term in the Louisiana House of Representatives. He currently serves on the House Commerce Committee, Labor Committee, as the vice- chairman of the House Education Committee and as the vice-chairman of the House Democratic Caucus.
Election day is Saturday, May 27. Early voting is available through Saturday, May 20. Senate District 2 covers portions of Ascension, Assumption, Iberville, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John and West Baton Rouge parishes.
Ed Price is a retiree from BASF Corporation after more than 36 years of service and is also a member of Wymar Federal Credit Union where he has been a board member for the past 16 years. Ed and Patsy Jackson have been married for more than 36 years and are the proud parents of one daughter and grandparents to one grandson.
