The West Baton Rouge Parish Library will hold a Summer Program Kickoff and STEM Event at the library on Thursday evening, April 26 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. The library is located at 830 North Alexander Avenue in Port Allen.
Area businesses, industries, and government agencies will present science, technology, engineering, and math activities for students and their families to explore. West Baton Rouge school music and theater groups and robotics teams will perform. An exhibit of art created by parish gifted and talented students will be available for touring in the library’s meeting room. Library staff will award new books to students who register for the summer program. The books are funded by a grant from the Port Allen Rotary Club and an anonymous donor
STEM activities will be provided by Solutions through Science, Atmosphere Aerial, School Aids, Entergy, IBM, Biggie Bee Keep, Baton Rouge Radio Control Club, DOW – WBR STEM Academy – Robotics, Terracon Consultants, West Baton Rouge Mosquito Control, West Baton Rouge Cooperative Extension Office, West Baton Rouge Fire Department, and the West Baton Rouge Parish Library.
Participating school groups include the Drama Club from Port Allen High School, Port Allen High School Band, West Baton Rouge Middle School Band, and Robotics teams from Brusly and Port Allen High Schools, and Lukeville Upper Elementary School. The art exhibit includes works from students representing all West Baton Rouge Schools.
