Brusly High’s Tyler Theriot received a personal honor that no one else in Louisiana can claim.
Theriot, a senior, has just been named the state of Louisiana’s No. 1 left-handed pitcher. On top of being named No. 1 at his position, he is ranked the number 23 player in the entire state.
“I was not expecting to be No. 1, but it is a great accomplishment,” Theriot said. “I still have to keep working hard and improving going into my senior year.”
Theriot already knows what it is like to be named No. 1 in the state.
Last season, the Panthers were ranked number one in the state for most of the season, including going into the state championship.
But, Theriot isn’t going to let the pressure get to him. He has a plan.
“Being named No. 1, every team wants to beat you so you have extra pressure to do your best,” he said. “I just have to trust my preparation for each game. I’m looking forward to a great year for Brusly baseball.”
Theriot was given the honor by Prep Baseball Report.
Since its inception in 2005, “the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in,” according to its website. “The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote high school baseball and, ultimately, help prep athletes achieve their dreams of playing baseball at the next level.”
