Former Brusly police chief Jamie Whaley has found himself on the wrong side of the law again.
The West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office confirmed Whaley was arrested for theft from the Port Allen Walmart on Dec. 19, 2020 following a report by the WBRZ Investigative Unit.
Whaley allegedly left the store with $516.40 worth of merchandise after paying only $68.23 at the self checkout.
Whaley was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail and released on a summons for theft.
Whaley resigned as chief of police in 2014 after an investigation by the State Inspector General and the FBI revealed Whaley fueled up his boat with the department's credit card at least 29 times. The investigation also uncovered seven department guns that could not be located and forged checks.
Whaley avoided jail time with a no-contest plea to felony malfeasance charges in 2015.
