UPDATE: A suspect was arrested in connection with the attempted arson on Thursday according to the victim. The Port Allen Police Department has yet to release their identity.

The Port Allen Police Department is asking for the public's help finding a suspect or suspects in an attempted vehicle arson on Wednesday afternoon.

While attending his mother's funeral at Wilbert's Funeral Home in Port Allen, Rick Boudreaux found a smoking piece of paper lodged in the fuel tank of his truck, he said. It was placed with the intent to cause the truck to burst into flames but instead went out and began smoking.

The truck was parked on the South, or Avenue D, side of Wilbert's Funeral Home.

The Port Allen Police Department is asking anyone with security cameras in the area or any witnesses to call 225-343-5525.
