Ilene Marie Bush Gantt

Ilene Marie Bush Gantt passed away at her home in Addis on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the age of 65. She was a native of Grosse Tete and resident of Addis. Ilene was a homemaker. Visiting  at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen on Thursday, July 15, 9 a.m. until Rite of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. conducted by Deacon Minos Ponville, Jr. Burial  in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Grosse Tete. Ilene is survived by her son, Edward Gantt, Jr. and wife Sandy of Addis; three grandchildren, Gracie Gantt, Hailey Landry and Alex Gantt; seven sisters, three brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanette Johnson

On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, God called Mrs. Jeanette “Madea” Howard Johnson one of his most dedicated soldier’s home to be with him. Madea was 91 years young. She was also recognized as a civil rights leader and activist in West Baton Rouge Parish and was a resident of Port Allen, La. She leaves to cherish her memories: her children Terry (Linda) Johnson, and Rev. Kenneth Johnson both of Baton Rouge, La., Donald (Jackie) Johnson of Houston, Tx., Barbara (Wayne) Hunter of Burlington, NC., Eathel (Khalil) Ali of Athens, Ga., and Carolyn Johnson of Port Allen, La., 20 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, 5 children, and 2 grandchildren. Visiting will be held on Friday July 23, 2021 at Hall’s Celebration Center, 1160 Louisiana Ave. Port Allen, La. from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Visiting will resume at New Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church 1187 Rosedale Rd. Port Allen, LA, on Saturday July 24, 2021 at 8:00am until religious services begin at 10:00am. Rev. Dr. Michael A. Byrd officiating. Mary Fresina Misuraca,

a loving, faithful, devoted wife, mother and grandmother who adored her family. Mary passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at her home in Port Allen, LA surrounded by her loving family. She was 80 years old, a native of Independence and resident of Port Allen. Mary started working at the age of 16 at Biundo’s Drug Store in Independence. She went on to work as a secretary at Billups Oil Company, Off Shore Oil Drilling Company then JC Penney. Mary then joined the West Baton Rouge Parish School System as a Special Education School Aide, moving to the position of secretary at the WBR Parish Vocational Skills Center and then retired as the Receptionist from the WBR School Board Main Office. Visiting  at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen on Monday, July 19th, 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial   celebrated by Rev. Ryan Hallford at 3 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. A private family entombment will be held at Colonial Cemetery in Independence, LA. Mary is survived by her 8th grade sweetheart and husband of 62 years, Michael Thomas Misuraca; three daughters, Victoria M. Millet and husband Brett, Vincel M. Simpson and husband Larry, and Myra M. Black and husband Joseph Scott; grandchildren, Michael Thomas Misuraca III, Collin Millet, Morgan S. James and husband Peter, Madison Simpson and fiancé Joshua Stafford, Julia Black and Joseph Scott Black II; a sister, Judy F. Jones and husband Tommy. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Michael Thomas Misuraca II; parents, Vincent J. and Anna Mae Carona Fresina; sister, Phyne F. Roubique and husband Angelo. Mary was very active in the St. Joseph Altar Committee at Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a member of the AIA – American Italian Association and a local dance club. She had a strong devotion to St. Joseph, the Blessed Mother and her Italian Catholic Heritage. Pallbearers will be her three sons-in-law and three grandsons. Linda Sue Crawford Sicard

passed away peacefully at her own home in Port Allen, LA., surrounded by her family and friends. Left behind to cherish her memories is her husband, Gerald C. Sicard; daughter, Jessica L. Crawford Salsman of Washington, La; Son, Larry Sicard and wife Melissa of Ft. Braggs, NC; granddaughters, Rae’Lyn Jacks of Washington, LA and Evie Sicard of Ft Braggs, NC; grandsons, Caleb Villar of Kingsport, TN, Keegan Sicard and Izaac Courville; sisters, Betty Crawford and Beactrice Babin of Gonzales, LA; and brothers, William M. Crawford of Denham Springs, LA and Charles H. Crawford of Texarkana, AR. Along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Mack L. Crawford; mother, Josie M. Crawford; sisters, Bennie Ruby Ellis, Shirley Howard and Virginia Wilson; brothers, Thomas Crawford, Bobby L. Crawford and Lennan Wilson. Pallbearers were    Brian Castille, Michael Crawford, Kee Kee Woodard, John Barker, Brent Boudreaux, and Travis “Jethro” Hebert. Honorary Pallbearers wereLarry Sicard and Billy Norwood. Special Thanks to our nieces, Erica Crawford, and Sandra Bell, long-time friend Marsha Fontenot and St. Joseph Hospice. Curtis Washington

entered into eternal rest on July 10, 2021 at the age of 75. He was a Retired Laborer with Big River. Survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
