Thelma Diffey’s life of service to her Lord and family ended June 20, 201 , as she passed peacefully into the arms of God. She was 93 years old, born April 13, 1925, in St. Gabriel. Thelma was a long time resident of Baton Rouge having moved there as a child & then a long time resident of Port Allen. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Port Allen. Thelma retired after 25 years of service with the LA DOTD. The joys of her life were her family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and above all, her husband of 35 years, CW Diffey, who preceded her in death on April 16, 2009. CW and Thelma were inseparable and thoroughly enjoyed their life together. The family would like to thank Thelma’s very special “angels” (caregivers): Denise, Jennifer, Sarah, JayNa, Donna, Denette and Audubon Hospice for all their care and guidance. Burial at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge. Thelma is survived by 4 sons, Roger (Judy) Hodgeson, Gonzales; Charles (Wanda) Diffey, Steve Diffey, Andy Diffey, Port Allen; 8 grandchildren, David (Rima) Hodgeson, Dr. Michael (Angie) Hodgeson, Jill (George) Rodriguez, Kristi (Derek) Fontenot, Adrienne (Scott) Vercher, Tracy Diffey (Heath Soileau), Amber (Jeremy) Mizell, Michele Diffey (Justin Steinmetz), and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Evelyn Cambre Yoes Frederick of Nederland, Texas; sister& brother-in-law, Lorraine (Gaston) Gerald of Greenwell Springs; brother-in-law, Donald Modicut of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law Betty Diffey of Lufkin, Texas; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, CW Diffey; parents, Joseph Dubuys Sr. & Mary Helen Arceneaux Cambre; a brother & wife, Joseph D. (Blanche “Kitty”) Cambre Jr; sisters & husbands, Romsey & Helen (Cambre) LeBlanc; Layton & Sylvia (Cambre) Gautreau; a sister Catherine (Cambre) Modicut, an infant brother; & infant sisters, Loney & Joyce Cambre; brothers-in-law, Thomas Yoes, Raymond Frederick, Nederland, Texas & Glen Diffey of Lufkin, Texas; husband, John Milton Hodgeson Sr. Pallbearers will be David Hodgeson, George Rodriguez, Derek Fontenot, Scott Vercher, Joshua Hodgeson, Christopher Hodgeson; Honorary Pallbearers, Dr. Michael Hodgeson, Benjamin Hodgeson, Rhett Sheets, Heath Soileau; In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
