The Brusly Lady Panthers improved to 19-9 following a straight set victory over the Baker Lady Buffaloes Wednesday night in Brusly.
With the win, Brusly remained undefeated in district play with a 5-0 record
“We’re swinging well, there are still some people we need to improve their swinging and just staying ready for every ball,” said Brusly head coach Kayla Sarradet.
Some of the underclassmen on the team were able to get some playing time Wednesday and Sarradet said she was pleased with the growth of the younger players.
“Some of them are stepping up greatly and I can definitely see them next year and even later on this year if we need them,” she said. “They can step up to the challenge.”
Mary-Cathryn Comeaux had eight kills to go along with eight assists and nine aces. Mallary Thibodeaux added 14 assists, seven kills and five aces.
The win against Baker came a day after the Lady Panthers earned a hard-fought five-set win over Live Oak.
The scores were 25-21, 18-25, 21-25, 25-11 and 15-7.The matchup was a makeup game that was postponed because of the weather last month.
Thibodeaux had 28 kills with 11 assists, three blocks, two aces and a dig. Comeaux had 27 assists, five digs, four kills and three aces. Hayleigh Harrison had six kills with three blocks.
