Brusly’s fishing duo of Michael Bonadona and Greg Diamond claimed first place at the Louisiana High School BASS Nation East Division Fall Qualifier last weekend at North Pass.
Bonadona and Diamond beat out 169 other boats to win the competition with five fish totalling 11.86 pounds.
Last weekend’s victory was the second straight tournament win for the duo. They won the west division fall qualifier at Moss Bluff in early October.
“I think it has a lot to do with their confidence,” said Brusly’s boat captain Brent Bonadona. “They are fishing to their strengths and not just going through the motions. I’m getting to see them develop as a team.”
Walker High School’s Brennan Richard and Mackie Faucheaux finished second with a weight of 11.7 pounds.
Another Brusly duo, Carson Granier and Trent Labauve, finished 13th with 8.01 pounds.
The Team Award went to Walker High School with their Top 3 weights coming in at 25.63 pounds and Brusly was right behind with the Top 3 weights at 25.55 pounds.
Each of the Louisiana trail (east or west) consists of four tournaments — three qualifiers and the Louisiana State championship. A point system will be used to determine qualifiers from each team trail. Points are based on the position a team places in each tournament
Last weekend’s event was the first of the east qualifier tournaments.
