The Brusly Panthers are on a three-game losing streak following a 51-14 loss to the University High Cubs last Friday night at Gill Stadium.
“With the guys they have, it’s hard for anybody to match up with them (U-High),” said Brusly head coach Hoff Schooler. “They are the best team in the state regardless of classification.”
University’s (6-0, 2-0) senior running back Mike Hollins followed up a big game against Zachary with another stellar game against the Panthers.
Hollins ran for 152 yards and four touchdowns on 10 attempts, which included runs of 60 and 32 yards. Christian Harris returned a punt for 72 yards for a score and also caught a 53-yard touchdown pass from John Gordon McKernan.
The Cubs jumped out to a quick lead with 28 first-quarter points.
“This is one (film) you make sure you show the boys,” Schooler said. “We watched it with them on Saturday. We played against the best team in the state. There’s some things we can learn and get better at.”
Brusly (3-3, 0-3) will be on the road again this week when they face Central-BR.
